Academic Training

PhD in Computer Science (University of Sussex, UK), specialising in Artificial Intelligence in Education, affective computing, and intelligent tutoring systems. Research focused on modelling learner motivation and adaptive systems grounded in cognitive and educational theory.

MSc and BSc training in computer science and informatics, with strong foundations in machine learning, statistical modelling, and systems development.

Research & Leadership Formation

  • Former Research Professor and doctoral programme director in Computer Science.
  • Full member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI).
  • Visiting researcher at UCL (London Knowledge Lab), Columbia University, University College Dublin, and University of British Columbia.
  • Active contributor to the international AIED research community.

Applied Orientation

My academic training was consistently paired with system-building: translating theoretical models into deployable AI systems for learning, assessment, and affect-aware interaction.
